(Jesus said,) “A new command I give you:
Love one another.
As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
If we are truly walking by the spirit (ie. walking in love), observers will notice.
There is no one on earth that doesn’t need to receive and give love.
It is essential to mental and even physical health.
Jesus said, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Do people see you as a loving person?
Do people see your Christian fellowship as those who genuinely love one another (with a love that has its source in the Holy Spirit)?
If the answer is YES, they will know that you are disciples of Jesus.
Not only that, but they will witness the outworking of the love of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit, in the lives of real live human beings like themselves. Consequently, there will be those who will sense that this is real, and be drawn to Jesus and want to know how they can enter into this life in God. This opens an opportunity for us to
“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord.
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you
to give the reason for the hope that you have.
But do this with gentleness and respect,…” (1 Peter 3:15)
You can simply tell them the story of how you were drawn to and received Jesus as Lord.
Know that the Holy Spirit will be there to empower you and show your listeners.
“As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning.”
The wonder of this approach to evangelism is that it is not merely an evangelistic event-but it is ongoing 24/7!
